Diaz makes big gains, dos Anjos rises in rankings

Nate Diaz’s calling for a Conor McGregor bout after Fight Night: dos Anjos vs. Cowboy 2 has people talking. But after the release of the latest UFC rankings, it could hold a bit more water.

Check out the latest rankings here

Diaz made the biggest climb of any fighter (seven spots) and now sits at No. 8 among the lightweight division. Of course, McGregor has yet to decide whether he’ll make the move to the 155-pound class, so time will tell.

The undisputed champ of the lightweights, Rafael dos Anjos, moved two spots to No. 8 in the pound-for-pound rankings after his first round TKO of Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone on Saturday. Cowboy lost one position in the divisional ranks, falling behind Khabib Nurmagomedov for No. 2 while Anthony Pettis remains the top contender.

Andrei Arlovski benefited from Junior Dos Santos’ loss and climbs to No. 2 in the heavyweight charts. Dos Santos drops to fourth and the man that KO’ed him in Orlando, Alistair Overeem, jumped four spots to No. 5.

Valentina Shevchenko and Karolina Kowalkiewicz made their UFC debuts on Saturday. Both won, defeating ranked fighters, and now they also make their debuts in the UFC rankings. Shevchenko at No 12 in the women’s bantamweight division and Kowalkiewicz, also at 12th, among the women’s strawweights.
